RECENTLY

The Defenders went 2-0 this weekend in a trip to North Dakota while securing a 95-76 win over Mayville State and a 105-87 win over Valley City State. Jackson Louscher came off the bench to score 25 and Jacob Vis ad 21 points and 15 rebounds against Mayville State.  The Defenders followed that with a 105-87 win over Valley City State as Bryce Coppock scored 19 to go with his 18 point night on Friday and Cade Bleeker scored 18 and Jacob Vis 17.

Dakota State split its two games with a 63-61 win over Midland on Saturday and they absorbed a season opening loss to Briar Cliff on Friday, 76-65.  Deshawn Kelly scored 13 in the win over Midland and Ronnie Latting had 11. Chris Morales led the Trojans in the loss to Briar Cliff with 11 and Kelly and Manny N'tula each had 10.
 

NOTES 

Dakota State

• Dakota State is coached by Gary Garner who is in his 14^th season and he has 187 wins at Dakota State and his 2015 and 2016 teams earned spots in the NAIA National Championship field.
• Last year's Dakota State team was 13-8 overall and 7-7 in the North Star and it marked the second year in a row the Trojans were 7-7 in the league.
