The Defender hockey team defeated the University of Kansas 11-2 on Friday night in the first of two games with the Jayhawks this weekend.
Coach Tyler Morgan had this to say regarding the win:
We played a great game tonight. Everyone was able to chip in and it was another awesome atmosphere from our crowd. We are starting to play hard for each other and hoping to continue to grow this season!
How it Happened:
Dordt jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before giving one back to the Jayhawks in the first period.
Then the second period is where the Defenders really pulled away in the game. Dordt would score 6 unanswered goals in the second racking up what would prove to be an insurmountable lead going into the third.
Dordt did score two more goals to the Jayhawks one in the third, the second of those securing a hat trick for freshman,
Isaac Baart.

Baart led the way for the Defenders on the stat sheet Friday night picking up 3 goals. The other 8 goals were scored by 7 different players.
Zach Espenson had 2 goals to his credit.

Assists were spread amongst 9 different players.

Alex Espenson both grabbed a pair of assists.

Van Berkel,
Bullock, and
De Jager each had 1 assist.
In total, Dordt tallied 38 shots on goal compared to 20 for Kansas.
Graeme Edmund made 18 saves in the net for Dordt.
