Dordt won the first of 3 games with Dallas Baptist this week 5-1. They'll meet the Patriots again tomorrow night at 7pm (CST).
It was a strong showing for Graeme Edmund in goal, making 24 saves in the game, only surrendering the lone Patriot goal.

How it Happened:
The Defenders took a one goal lead in the first period, and extended it with another in the second period. Alex Espenson had both of those goals. The Patriots had a few chances in those periods, but the defense and Edmund were able to keep them off the board.

Dallas Baptist scored early in the third and made it look like it might be a closer game for a brief moment. Mason Carrels responded quickly however, scoring the first of 3 unanswered goals rattled off by the Defenders.

Noah Wilmes capped off the win going end to end for his second goal in the period.

The Defenders seem to be making a habit of pulling away in the third period recently, and surly look to continue that trend through the weekend.

Stat Summary:
A. Espenson and Wilmes led the way for the offense on Thursday night, with significant help from Isaac Baart as well. A. Espenson had 2 goals and 1 assist. Wilmes had 2 goals. Baart had two assists.
Carrels had 1 goal. Nathan Fanning and Tristan Schlechter each had an assist.
In total, Dordt tallied 43 shots on goal. Dallas Baptist had 25.
Edmund made 24 saves for the Defenders.

Looking ahead:
The puck drops tomorrow night at 7pm (CST) once again, and Saturday at 1pm (CST). Both the weekend games are at Vernon Arena, facing the Patriots from Dallas Baptist University.
