Dordt picked up their 5
th straight win to move to 4-0 on the season against Dallas Baptist with a 7-2 victory on Friday Night.
Another strong performance by the Defender offense gave them the edge in a physical game and
Hayden Stevens had an impressive night in goal for Dordt.
The Patriots and Defenders will play their final matchup of the season tomorrow afternoon at 1pm (CST).
How it Happened:
Dordt jumped out in front right away when
Nathan Fanning scored within the first minute of play.
Dordt would take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission, and then scored 2 more goals in the second period to pull ahead by 4.
Hayden Stevens made a number of impressive saves during the first two periods.
Dallas Baptist scored both their goals to start the third period and cut the lead in half. Just when it looked like they might mount a comeback,
Freddy Bullock scored a backhanded goal off a faceoff to bring the momentum back to Dordt.
Again, the Defenders pulled away late in the third, adding 2 more goals to seal the 7-2 win.
Stat Summary:
Noah Wilmes picked up 3 points on 2 goals and 1 assist.
Nathan Fanning also had 2 goals to his credit.
Isaac Baart had another nice playmaking night, picking up 2 assists and
Connor Raiche had 1 goal and 1 assist.
Zach Espenson and
Freddy Bullock each contributed 1 goal.
Austin Green,
Mason Carrels, and
Lucas Van Berkel each had 1 assist.
Dordt won the shots on goal battle 46-30.
Hayden Stevens made 28 saves in the net, with a few of them in rather heroic fashion.

The Defenders have one more game left with Dallas Baptist University, scheduled for 1pm (CST) tomorrow afternoon at Vernon Arena. After that, Dordt will have a couple weeks off before hosting the University of Nebraska for a 2 game set on December 2
nd and 3
rd.
