Payton Mauldin qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Championships in his second event of the season at a meet held today, the Concordia Early Bird, in Seward, Neb.
One week after qualifying for nationals in the 800m at the SDSU Invite, Mauldin repeated his accomplishment in the 600m in today's meet. The junior crossed the finish line in first place with a facility record time of 1:19.1, the fastest in the NAIA to date.
Peyton Miller placed third in the event with a time of 1:23.18, currently the fourth fastest in the GPAC.Â
Kyle Baumert finished as the runner-up in the 60m hurdles, placing second behind 2021 national qualifier Zach Turner (Doane). Baumert matched his personal best time of 8.51, tied for the sixth fastest in program history.Â
Dawson Teune turned in a top-five showing in the 800m, crossing the finish line in 2:05.9, the seventh fastest time in the GPAC to date.Â
The Defenders will be off from competition until their home meet, the Dordt Open, on Jan. 14.Â
