In a low scoring, physical matchup, the Defenders dropped their Friday night matchup with Nebraska 1-0. The loss moves Dordt to 12-3-0 on the season.
How it Happened:
The first two periods of the game were scoreless for both teams. Through the first period, each team had equal shots on goal. After the second, the Defenders had pulled ahead in shots 23-16.
Nebraska was finally able to break through the Defender Defense about halfway through the third period. The goal came after Dordt had held off about two and a half minutes of Cornhusker power play.
Although Dordt did when the shots on goal battle, Nebraska seemed to be getting their shots off from more dangerous scoring areas on the ice.
Graeme Edmund played very well in goal for the Defenders, making 26 saves in total, with many of them at a high degree of difficulty.
Looking ahead:
Dordt will be back on the ice at Vernon Arena tomorrow afternoon when the puck drops for game two with Nebraska at 1pm (CST). You can watch that game live on the Dordt Media Network. (Link)
