The Defender Hockey team got a Friday night win over Nebraska-Omaha by a final score of 5-2. The win moves the season series with the Mavericks to 4-0 Defenders, with one game left to play tomorrow afternoon at 1pm (CST) at Vernon Arena in Sioux Center. You can follow that game live on the

How it Happened:
Dordt jumped out to an early lead in the first period courtesy of
Mason Carrels, who scored twice to put the Defenders up 2-0.
The second period was all Defenders to start as well with a goal by team captain,
Jonah Weems, and another by
Carrels to finish up an early hat trick.
The third period started with the score at 4-1 after the Mavericks picked up their first goal with less than a minute left in the second. They scored again to cut the lead to two, but it wasn't enough.
Weems scored his 2
nd, and the 5
th Defender goal to seal another win for Dordt.
Stat Summary:
Mason Carrels was the star of the night for the Defender offense picking up a hat trick and an assist in the contest. Two more notable performances came from
Jonah Weems who scored twice, and
Isaac Baart who had an assist on 4 of the 5 Defender goals.
Freddy Bullock and
Connor Raiche each picked up an assist.
Dordt racked up a whopping 61 shots on goal compared to 21 shots on goal for Nebraska-Omaha.
Graeme Edmund was in made 19 saves for the Defenders at Goalie.
