Dordt defeats Creighton 6-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender hockey team was a 6-2 winner over Creighton in hockey action at the Vernon Arena in Sioux Center. The Defenders scored the first two goals and never trailed while winning their sixth decision in a row dating back to a 4-2 loss at Missouri State on October 7.
Dordt first goal came on an assist by
Brady Espenson to
Isaac Baart early in the first period and Griffen Lennes made it 2-0 with his first goal off the assists by
Ryler Schelle and
Connor Raiche.
The Blue Jays answered with a goal near the end of the first period and the first break had Dordt leading 2-1. Lennes scored the second of three goals in the second period with Schelle and
Mason Carrels each getting assists and
Noah Wilmes goal made it 4-1 after two periods.
Creighton got one through in the third to narrow it to 4-2 but a quick answer by
Lucas Van Berkel with the feed by Carrels neutralized the goal and Lennes's final goal of the night, again set up by Schelle got the difference to 6-2.
