HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defenders overcame an early 2-0 deficit and won a 4-3 overtime decision from Nebraska on Friday night, November 3 in Lincoln, Nebraska
Nebraska scored at the 13:10 mark of the first period and again at the 10:20 mark for a 2-0 lead that stood until the second period when
Andrew Benson found the goal for the Defenders a little over five minutes into the period. Dordt struck quickly with another goal a minute later when
Isaac Baart scored off assists from
Mason Carrels and
Noah Wilmes.
Nebraska answered near the midpoint of the second period to regain the lead but
Noah Wilmes capped a wild seven minute stretch to tie it again with 7:45 left in the period. The score remained tied through regulation and the teams went to a five minute overtime period.
With just over a minute remaining in the overtime session
Isaac Baart scored the game winner with an assist by
Alex Espenson to give Dordt its fourth win in a row and seventh overall.
Graeme Edmund went the distance in goal and made 37 saves.
Dordt had a 40-37 shots advantage.
