The Dordt Defenders defeated the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers by a 2-1 decision on Friday night in the Vernon Arena in Sioux Center, Iowa. This moved the Defenders win streak to 10 and keeps them at first place in their division. The Defenders last loss came on October 7 when they lost to Missouri State.
How it happened:
Griffin Lennes scored the opening goal just minutes into the game. Lennes won the puck in his own defensive zone and did the rest himself. He took the into the offensive zone and slotted a shot past the goalie to go up 1-0, just three minutes into the game.Â
Lennes also scored the second goal for the Defenders which also turned out to be the difference in the game. The Defenders took a shot that rebound off the boards. Lennes received a pass and took a shot after moving around a defender for his second goal fo the evening.Â
The Defenders we able to put up 48 shots on goal while Nebraska managed to put 22 shots on goal.
The Defenders will play their final home game tomorrow afternoon, December 2, against the Cornhuskers.
