Van Den Berg To Run For Defenders

(Wednesday, March 1; Sioux Center, Iowa) Easton Van Den Berg, a senior at Sioux Center High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and cross country programs.

"I am pleased to welcome Easton to our distance program.  He has been able to gain a ton of experience running for Coach Lehman, as part of a very strong and successful Sioux Center program. These experiences, along with his strong work ethic and love of running, will help him to transition well to college running.  Additionally, he will be a fantastic teammate and will be able to impact the program in a variety of ways.  I look forward to working with Easton over the next four years," said Dordt cross country coach and assistant track coach Nate Wolf

Van Den Berg has personal bests of 16:49 on a 5,000 meter cross country course and a 10:28 in the 3,200 meter race. He was a state qualifier in the 3,200 and earned all-conference and all-district honors in cross country and earned a berth at the Iowa High School State Cross Country Championship as a junior and senior.

"I chose to attend Dordt University because of the Christ-centered campus community. Whenever I visit the campus it is very welcoming. I am excited to work with Coach Wolf and my future Defender teammates. I am ready to join this incredible championship program," said Van Den Berg.

Easton is the son of Brent and Shelley Van Den Berg of Sioux Center, Iowa. He plans to study health and human performance.
