(Wednesday, March 15; Sioux Center, Iowa) Elias Bervig has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and cross country programs.
"I am excited to welcome Elias to our middle-distance and distance program. He is a great fit for Dordt University and has the ability to impact our middle-distance crew immediately. He has competed, and excelled, at the state level in Minnesota. That experience will benefit him as he transitions to college racing. I look forward to working with Elias for the next four years," said Dordt cross coutry coach and assistant track and field coach Nate Wolf.
Bervig has personal bests of 2:01 in the 800 meters, 54 in the 400 meters, 4:37 in the 1600 and 16:48 on a 5,000 meter cross country course. He has earned all-conference honors and was a Class A state title winner in the 4x800 in 2021.
"I chose Dordt because I was impressed by the academic and athletic excellence at Dordt. I also want to got to a college with a Christ-centered community," said Bervig.
Elias is the son of Eric and Jennifer Bervig of Park Rapids, Minnesota. He plans to major in environmental studies at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).?
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
