Van Maanen To Run For Defenders

(Wednesday, March 1; Sioux Center, Iowa) Adriana Van Maanen, a senior at Unity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and cross country programs.  

"Adriana is a wonderful addition to our distance program.  She has been a member of the perennially successful Unity Christian girls program.  She has a passion for running and a strong work ethic to match that passion.  She is a perfect fit for Dordt University, and I look forward to her impact on our program and across the campus community!  I look forward to working with Adriana for the next four years," said Dordt cross country coach and assistant track coach Nate Wolf.

Van Maanen has a personal best of 21:01 on a 5,000 meter cross country course and has qualified for the Iowa High School State Cross Country Championship.  

"I chose Dordt University because I wanted a good, Christian education and I really appreciate the Dordt community," said Van Maanen.  

Adriana is the daughter of Micah and Kristin Van Maanen of Orange City, Iowa. She plans to study social work at Dordt.  

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).?    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
