Four Defender relays finished in the top five and another school record was set to highlight the final day of competition at the Drake Relays for the Dordt University men's track and field team. The three-day event was held on the Blue Oval at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
Both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays competed in their respective finals today after qualifying in Friday's prelims. The Defenders finished third in a very tight 4x100 final where the top four teams were separated by less than a half second. Dordt crossed the finish line in 41.33, just off their time in the prelims and .02 seconds behind second place Iowa Central Community College. Minnesota State (NCAA D-II) took first place (41.28). Defender team members include;

In the final college event on Saturday, the Defenders 4x400 relay placed fourth, three spots ahead of where they were seeded after Friday's prelim. Dordt clocked a time of 3:14.84 and hit the 'A' standard once again. Today's time is No.6 on Dordt's all-time list. Relay members include

Defender runners competed in two distance medley events in the morning session. Dordt's team of
Thaniel Schroeder,
Levi Schelhaas,
Peyton Miller and
Trey Engen set the school record in the 4K race, placing fifth in the all-college/university division with a time of 10:03. Today's time is over four seconds faster than the previous record set last year at Drake.
The Defenders also competed in the all-Iowa College division of the DMR where they finished as the runner-up to Cornell. Dordt completed the 4K medley in a time of 10:21; team members were
