Schreurs to play soccer for the Defenders

Stephen Schreurs (Sioux Center, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to attend Dordt University and join the Defender men's soccer program.  

Schreurs is a 6'2" midfielder who has played three years for the Unity Christian soccer team heading into his senior season this spring. Schreurs ranked second on the Knights with 26 points, scoring seven goals to go with a team-high 12 assists. A three-year starter, Schreurs has scored 17 career goals and has 25 assists. Schreurs earned all-conference honors and helped lead his team to the regional finals and an 11-6 record. 

"I chose to attend Dordt because I believe the coaches and professors invest in their athletes / students and want what is best for them," said Schreurs. "Dordt is a place where I can I be challenged in academics, athletics and in my spiritual life."

Schreurs plans to study Actuarial Science and Statistics at Dordt. He is the son of Micah and Shannon.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
