(Wednesday, January 17; Sioux Center, Iowa) Megan Dickerson, a senior at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School (Kansas), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender softball program.
Dickerson has played shortstop, third base and second base and had a .416 batting average with a .909 fielding percentage during the 2022-23 season. She was part of KSHAA 5A State Softball Quarterfinal qualifying team and competed at the 2021 Under Armour Softball Factory Midwest Showcase where she was an All-Tournament team selection.
"I chose Dordt for its exceptional blend of academic excellence, the excellent coaching staff and amazing facilities. I was drawn to Dordt's robust engineering program which offers a high-quality education and opportunities for hands on learning. The university's commitment to a faith-based community was equally appealing as that aligns with my personal beliefs. Additionally, the positive coaching atmosphere at Dordt ensures I will not only receive excellent guidance on the softball field, but I'll also be part of a team that values personal growth, teamwork and character development. I am excited to embark on this journey at Dordt, where I can pursue both my academic and athletic passions in a community that shares my values," said Dickerson.
Megan is the daughter of Bryan and Susanna Dickerson of Overland Park, Kansas. She plans to study engineering at Dordt.
