The Dordt Defenders won their 14th straight game with an impressive 9-1 win in the Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Defenders saw plenty of offense as they scored nine goals and only allowed one. They wasted no time as they scored just two minutes into the game off a shot from center ice that snuck its way into the goal from Zach Espenson.
Jonah Weems scored the second goal for the Defenders just a minute later to go up 2-0 early in the contest.
Noah Wilmes put in the third of the game with 8:46 left in the first period.
Griffin Lennes scored another goal in his impressive freshman season. The Defenders would enter the first intermission with a 4-0 lead.
Isaac Baart just needed 30 seconds to put the fifth goal of the game in the net for the Defenders.
Connor Raiche scored the sixth goal for the Defenders with just under 14 minutes remaining in the second period.
Griffin Lennes would net his second of the game with under a minute left in the second period after a fake shot into a wrap around goal on the far post. The Defenders would go into the second intermission with a 7-0 lead.
Noah Wilmes put in his second of the game just 15 seconds into the third period.
Taylor De Jager finished the night off with a goal late to extend the lead. The Mavericks were able to score in the third but the deficit was too much to overcome.

The Defenders' record will improve to 17-3-0 and have a comfortable first place lead in the MD3 MACHA Silver Division with two games left in the regular season. The Defenders' next game will be on the road at Creighton on January 26 at 9:30 PM.
