The Dordt Defender hockey team was a 3-2 winner over Kansas on Saturday, October 19 to sweep the home opener for Dordt.
Dordt got a goal from Lucas Van Berkel and then added scores Luke Kester and Griffin Lennes. Van Berkel's and Lennes's were unassisted and Kester was helped by Lennes and Zach Espenson on his.
Van Berkel's goal came less than two minutes into the game and Kansas answered with a goal late in the period for a 1-1 deadlock. Kester's goal came about six minutes into the second period and Lennes's goal came at the 10:00 mark for a 3-1 lead.
Kansas made it 3-2 early in the third period and the Defenders had to withstand the comeback for the final 15 minutes to secure the win.
Isaiah Van Noord turned in the win in goal with 29 saves on 31 shots faced.
Dordt is 7-0-1 and will host Creighton on Friday, October 25 at 7:00.
