Te Dordt hockey team defeated the Creighton Bluejays on a 6-1 decision in the Vernon Arena on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Much of the first period was scoreless until
Luke Kester scored the first of two goals on the night with just over three minute left in the first, Kester was assisted by
Isaac Baart. Dordt doubled their lead after a tripping penalty that left the Defenders with a power play.
Noah Wilmes scored on the power play. Wilmes was assisted by
Mason Carrels. Dordt would enter the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.Â
Creighton scored their only goal of the game three minutes into the second period. Chuck Altier scored, assisted by Caden Lacher.
Dordt answered back as
Lucas Van Berkel scored an unassisted goal with just over 16 minutes remaining in the period.
Luke Kester secured the brace in the second period with another power play goal.Â
Things only got harder for the Bluejays as David Calderone was given a game misconduct that ended his night early and Dordt would go into the second intermission with a 4-1 lead.Â
Dordt added to their lead with two more goals in the third period.
Noah Wilmes also netted a brace with his second goal, assisted by
Mason Carrels, and
Isaac Baart scored off of passes fromÂ
Mason Spejcher and
Luke Kester.
Isaiah Van Noord had 42 saves on 43 shots.
Dordt's record improves to 8-0-1 on the season and will host East Texas Baptist for a weekend series on November 8 and 9.
