The Dordt hockey team put in a season high 12 goals against East Texas Baptist on their way to their sixth straight victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Defenders wasted little time to score as
Zach Espenson netted the first goal of the game just under four minutes into the game. Espenson scored his first of two goals of the afternoon on an assist from
Lucas Van Berkel.
Dordt doubled their lead just a few minutes later after
Levi Loken scored off passes from
Mason Carrels and
Zach Espenson on a power play.
Reuben Horneman added another with 7:35 left in the first period, assisted by
Christopher Janssen. Just 29 seconds later, Noah WIlmes scored, assisted by
Lucas Van Berkel and
Andrew Benson. Dordt would enter the first intermission with a 4-0 lead.
Dordt saw even more offense in the second period as
Alex Espenson would score a minute and a half into the second period, assisted by
Mason Spejcher and
Andrew Benson.  East Texas Baptist decided to make a change at goalie after that goal, subbing out Brenden Teczar and putting in Jake Filion.Â
Levi Loken scored an unassisted goal five minutes later to give two goals on the afternoon. With 9:46 left in the second period,
Lucas Van Berkel scored, assisted by
Andrew Benson and
Mike Torlina.Â
Levi Loken secured the hat-trick with five minutes left in the period to put the Defenders up by eight. Loken was assisted by
Mason Spejcher and
Isaac Baart. Dordt capped off a five goal second period with a
Reuben Horneman goal with just under three minutes left. Dordt took a commanding 9-0 lead into the final period of play.
Dordt scored three more times in the third period.
Brady Espenson scored with seven minutes left. He was assisted by
Alex Espenson.
Zach Espenson scored an unassisted goal just 18 seconds later.
Dordt finished the game of with a
Nate Lorenze goal late in the third period.
Levi Loken assisted Lorenze.
Charlie Lang secured the shutout with seven saves in the third period and had 20 saves for the whole game. Dordt out shot the Tigers 70-20.
Dordt's record is now 10-0-1 and is 5-0 at home. Dordt is on an 11 game unbeaten streak and will travel to play a weekend series against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on November 15 and 16.Â
