The Defenders dropped a 2-1 decision to the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks on Saturday night in Omaha, Nebraska.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Defenders got on the board just four minutes into the game as Alex Espenson capitalized on a Defender power play after he was assisted by Andrew Benson and Lucas Van Berkel. Espenson scored his seventh goal of the season.

UNO would score the equalizer with 1:23 left in the period but would score the go-ahead goal on a power play with just seconds remaining in the first period.

UNO's second goal in the first period would prove to be the game winner as neither team was able to find the back of the net for the rest of the game.

Isaiah Van Noord had 24 saves.

Dordt's record falls to 14-2-1 and they will take the ice again on January 3 for a two game series against Florida Gulf Coast.
