HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender men's basketball team bounced back from a slow start to defeat Concordia on Saturday, February 17 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The Defenders needed to overcome a 12-0 start and a first half where they scored just 29 points. The Defenders were down 17-5 at one point but battled back to take a 22-21 lead on a
Bryce Coppock basket. The Bulldogs had an answer and closed the half up 39-29.
Concordia maintained a 44-35 lead with 16:08 remaining when Dordt rallied again. A
Jackson Louscher basket started an 8-0 run that was capped by a
Luke Rankin three-point shot. Concordia seemed to regroup and led 49-43 on back to back baskets and had the lead up to seven at 55-48 after Noah Schutte's basket at the 11:52 mark.
Connor Millikan's basket started a 9-0 run that Coppock capped with a three-point play. Dordt never trailed again and had the lead up six on several occasions.Â
Luke Rankin gave Dordt breathing room late with a four point lead he converted a jumper and Coppock sealed it with free throws for the 79-73 final.
