Jamestown defeats Dordt (25-16, 25-21, 25-21)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Defenders lost a 3-0 decision to No. 12 ranked Jamestown in Sioux Center on Saturday in the GPAC (Great Plains Athletic Conference) opener. Dordt hung with Jamestown throughout the first set going back and forth until Jamestown put together a 12-5 run late that made it 21-13. Dordt would work their way back with three straight points to make it 22-16 but would ultimately drop set number one, 25-16.
The second set started with a Jamestown 12-5 run. The Defenders would slowly catch up making it 21-16, Dordt would score on set-point four times but would lose set two on a
Brady Fergen service error, 25-21.
The final set began going back and fourth with neither team gaining control. The score was 7-7 before Jamestown was able to serve consecutively for the first time thsi set and make it 11-7. Jamestown made another run making the score 18-13 before Dordt started to climb back into it. A key block by Borris Le made it 20-16 and
Andres Guzman came away with a kill a few points later making the score 21-17. Once again, Dordt found themselves with service on match point but would not be able to get it done and would drop the third set 25-21.Â
