HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender men's volleyball team secured a come from behind win in its conference match with Morningside in Sioux City late Saturday afternoon to win its second conference match of the weekend.
Morningside never trailed in set one and held off a Dordt rally that tied the set at 23-23Â and it was tied again at 24 and 25 before the hosts scored the final two points of the set on a pair of kills.
Dordt had control of set two with an 18-14 lead after a Nicodemus Elliott ace serve and the Defenders were still up 22-20 after an Andres Guzman kill. Morningside followed with four straight points and had two set-point serves before winning it 26-24 on an Isaiah Baynes kill.
Dordt trailed once in set three at 11-10 but tied it on a service error and then took a 14-11 lead on back to back attack errors. Morningside was able to get within one point late int eh set at 23-22 but Andres Guzman recorded another kill and it was an Elliott block that eventually ended the set 25-23.
With the momentum now behind them, the Defenders controlled set four from start to finish and won 25-17 and forced the fifth set. The Mustangs regained their composure after the set break and led 7-4 but an attack error followed by a Lukas Van Groningen and Lance Vermeer block got Dordt to within 7-6 and three more points in a row completed the five-point run and Dordt went on to win 15-11.

- Morningside had a 66-48 kills advantage but committed 36 errors to 23 for Dordt.
- Dordt had an 11-2 ace serves edge and Morningside had 70 digs to Dordt's 64.
