(Monday, April 1; Sioux Center, Iowa) Olivia Delarosa, a senior at Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School (Iowa) and current student at the University of Sioux Falls, has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender swimming program.
"Olivia is going to be a great addition to the Women's Swim team at Dordt. She comes in with experience and leadership that will help us tremendously. We look forward to having her here!" said Dordt swim coach Mason Youngblood.
Delarosa's individual bests are 25.02 in the 50 freestyle; 56,2 in the 100 freestyle; 2.01 in the 200 freestyle and 5:25 in the 500 freestyle. She qualified for the state swim meet as a high school junior and senior in both relays and individually in the 500 meter freestyle.
"I chose Dordt for the Christian atmosphere and to be able to grow my relationship with God. I also want to attend Dordt because of the way people made me feel welcomed when I came and visited," said Delarosa.
Olivia is the daughter of Julie Pomerenke and Eric Lovig. She plans to study psychology.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
