(Tuesday; Sioux Center, Iowa; Tuesday, March 5) Emily Bandelin has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the swim program.
"Emily is a great all-around swimmer as well as bringing great leadership qualities to the swim program! She is going to make an amazing addition to the Dordt Women's Swim program!" said Dordt swim coach Mason Youngblood.
Bandelin has competed in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 freestyle; the 100 butterfly; the 100 and 200 breaststroke; the 100 backstroke; and the 100 and 200 individual medleys.
"I chose to attend Dordt University because I desire to continue an education that is steeped in God's Word and maintains a Christian Worldview. I believe the student body and faculty at Dordt will help me pursue this endeavor. I am super excited I will constantly giving glory to God and encouraging my teammates. I am excited to join a community where faith is not only part of my academic equipping but also a part of my athletic training," said Bandelin.
Emily is the daughter of Paul and Katie Bandelin of Mankato, Minnesota. She plans to study architecture.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
