Men's Basketball | Steven Poulicek Commit

(Thursday, April 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) Steven Poulicek, a senior at Bellevue West High School (Nebraska), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program. 

"Steven is a winner and a great shooter.  He has lost one game in the last two years.  He has been well coached and has succeeded.  We look forward to his leadership and his personal development at Dordt," said Dordt men's basketball coach Brian Van Haaften.  

Poulicek averaged 11 points per game with three rebounds and two assists and he converted 46 percent of his career three-point shots. Poulicekk was part of two state champion teams with two Omaha World Herald honorable mention all-state accolades. Bellevue West recorded a 56-1 win-loss record the last two seasons.  

"Coach Van Haaften believed in me since watching me and I bonded with all the players and coaches.  The community supports Dordt a bunch and everybody involved with Dordt makes it feel like family," said  Poulicek.  

Steven is the son of Joe and Shawn Poulicek of Papillion, Nebraska. He plans to study business at Dordt.  

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
