(Thursday, April 25; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Eleanor Junk, a senior at Linn-Mar High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender swim team.  

"Ellie is a great addition to our program," said Dordt swimming coach Mason Youngblood. "She has a great attitude and will help lead this program to be strong and competitive." 

Junk has personal bests of 26.27 in the 50 yard freestyle and 58.83 in the 100 yard freestyle. She also has a personal best of 1:15.84 in the 100 yard breaststroke.  

"I selected Dordt because when I visited it felt like home away from home and the people were super kind and caring," said Junk. "It also offers swimming and an education with Christ through out." 

Eleanor is the daughter of Amy and Alex Junk of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She plans to study Criminal Justice and French.  

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).    

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
