Dordt University senior Luke Swanson was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week announced by the league office earlier today. 

Swanson was the fastest NAIA runner in a loaded, competitive field at the Defenders home meet, the Holiday Inn Express Classic, held last weekend. 

Notes: 

• Swanson crossed the finish line in seventh place overall among the 16-team, 147-runners field
• Swanson's time, 24:44, was a 24-second personal best
• this was the senior's second top 10 finish of the season
• Swanson has been one of the Defenders top two runners in the three meets he has competed in
• Swanson's time is the fastest in the GPAC this season, 24th best in the NAIA
• Swanson has six top 10's for his career
• Dordt finished fourth in the team standings, second among NAIA teams, on Saturday
• the Defenders will compete in their final meet of the regular season on Thursday, Oct.23 at Mount Marty
