The Dordt Defender hockey team was a 6-4 winner on Saturday at Missouri State to run their winning streak to 15 games.
Dordt overcame an early deficit and scored early goals in the third period to get a cushion and held on to win.
Missouri State scored 8:55 into the game only to have
Tristan Schlechter score less than a minute later to tie it. The score remained tied until
Zach Espenson scored with 1:35 left in the period on an assist by
Nick Espenson.
Less than a minute into the second period Reuben Hornamen scored on an assist from
Andrew Benson and
Christopher Janssen's goal answered a Bear goal to keep the difference two goals. The hosts got within 4-3 on a goal with just under five minutes left in the period but Horneman and
Zach Espenson scored in the first five minutes of the third and Dordt sat on a two goal lead for the final 14:42 after Missouri State got it within 6-4.
Isaiah Van Noord made 26 saves while facing 30 shots.
Dordt had a 31-30 shots advantage.Â
