Box Score The Dordt Defender men's volleyball team went on the road and secured a 3-0 (26-24, 28-26, 25-22) sweep in Heart of America Athletic Conference volleyball play on Tuesday night, March 11 in Sioux City. The win was a reversal of a Morningside win early in the season.

Set one set the tone with neither team leading by more than a point up to 13-13 when Morningside scored four points in a row for a 17-13 advantage. Lukas Van Groningen broke the string with a kill and started a three-point run for a 17-16 deficit. Morningside extended the lead to three again with back to back points for a  19-16 lead and it was still a three-point difference at 21-18. Dordt tied it at 22-22 on a Joel Van Groningen kill and Cade Schmidt put Dordt up 23-22 and Dordt never trailed again, winning on a service error  and an attack error.

Set two featured 11 ties up to 16-16 when Morningside scored back to back points and Dordt answered with two kills by Andres Guzman around a Joel Van Groningen kill. The momentum swings continued with Morningside holding a 22-20 lead but Dordt's Joel Van Groningen had two kills and Guzman a kill for a 23-22 lead. Morningside got to set point serve at 25-24 but Dordt again answered with another Van Groningen kill and a Morningside attack error. After a Morningside point tied it the Defenders got a kill by Cade Schmidt and a service ace by Schmidt for the 28-26 win.

The Mustangs controlled the third set up to an 18-15 difference but a Schmidt kill started a 4-0 run that put Dordt up and Dordt eventually had another 3-0 run to go from tied 21-21 to up 24-21 and won the match on a Guzman kill after Morningside had initially fought off set point.

Dordt is 11-7 overall and 5-6 in the Heart of America and Morningside is 9-10 and 4-7. Dordt will play matches this weekend against Grand View and William Penn on Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15.
