The Dordt University women's track and field team claimed a pair of All-American honors on the final day of the NAIA Outdoor National Championships held today in Marion, Ind. The 2025 championship event is hosted by Indiana Wesleyan.
Both
Addy Crow and
Makenna Walhof earned All-American honors on the final day, pushing the total of national honors to three for the Defenders at the 2025 outdoor championship. Dordt's 4x800 relay finished third and claimed All-American honors last night.
Crow began the day with another great showing and personal best in the 3000m steeplechase. The freshman was among the top eight for the entirety of the race and moved up one position and into sixth place over the final 400m with her fastest split (1:22.7). Crow completed the race with a new personal-best time of 10:59, nine seconds faster than her previous best, and is the third Defender to run sub-11:00 minutes (Jen Van Otterloo, Jessica Walczak). She is the third Dordt runner to earn the national honor in the steeplechase (Van Otterloo - 2008, Walczak - 2024).
Competing in the final field event of the championship, Walhof and
Fran Travis both finished in the top 12 among the field of 28 throwers in the discus. Walhof finished fifth overall with her best mark (46.24m) coming on her third and final attempt of the final. She qualified for the nine-thrower final with her second attempt (43.86) in the prelims and improved on each of her three throws in the final. Walhof is the first Defender to earn All-America honors in the discus and is the first Dordt thrower to claim the national honor since 2002 (Jacque Scoby - Javlin). Travis, who competed in the shot put on Thursday, placed 12th overall and had her best mark on her first attempt (42.92m). The freshman was the only Defender to compete in two individual events at the outdoor championship.
Dordt totaled 13 points and finished in a four-way tie for 22nd place (College of Idaho, Cumberland-Tenn., Central Methodist).Â
