Truman Johnson (Saline, Mich.) has been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week as announced by the conference office earlier today.

Johnson helped lead the Defenders to the team championship at the Sunflower Open held last weekend on the Defenders Cross Country course. 

Notes:

• Johnson completed the 8K course 26:19 and finished second to Logan Ferrari, who ran unattached
• Johnson's second place finish was the best of his career
• this was Johnson's team-leading fifth top 10 finish for his career
• Johnson's time is currently the fastest in the GPAC
• Dordt is ranked 18th in the NAIA and was picked to win the GPAC title
• this was the first of five regular season meets for the Defenders, who will also host a meet on October 11
• a total of 81 runners from six different teams competed at the Sunflower Open
