Cheer & Dance | Dordt Invite Complete

The Dordt Defender Cheer and Dance programs hosted the annual Dordt Invite on Saturday, January 24 at the De Witt Gym in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Defenders finished third in the cheer competition and the dance team was fifth.  Eight teams competed in each field with Viterbo claiming the dance decision and Northwestern a narrow in in the cheer.

Dordt Coach Mel Knobloch Said: We had great start to our competition season today, and I am extremely proud of the performances that the cheer and dance team put out on the floor today. With the challenges of a brand new rule book, rubric, and score sheets for this season, I was very pleased with how both teams have adapted and made the best of it already this season. It was an awesome time getting to also celebrate our nine graduating members today, and having the opportunity to recognize all that they have contributed to these programs. They are outstanding athletes and human beings, and I am thankful for all they have done to help lead these teams. We are looking forward to using the feedback that we received today to help push us and get us ready for our next several competitions, and we are hopeful to keep pushing and challenging ourselves to increase in execution and difficulty from competition to competition. Overall, today was a fantastic start to the season, and I can't wait to see the growth of these teams over this competition season!
