The Dordt Defender Cheer and Dance teams concluded their weekend at the Northwestern Classic on Saturday and finished fifth in both competitions in the averaging of the two days of performances.
The Cheer team scored 77.83 on Saturday and had a two day total of 77.05 and finished behind Midland with 78.83. Northwestern won the event with a 90.71 average.
The Dance team scored 78.79 on Saturday and had a 78.42 average for the two days and finished behind Concordia with 87.79 while Viterbo won the competition with an 89.94 average.
Coach Mel Knobloch Said: "I was extremely proud of how our teams performed this weekend at both days of competition at Northwestern. Our goal is to continuously improve our scores from competition to competition, and both teams were able to do that from day 1 into day 2, so I am extremely proud of them for their continued improvement this season. After a busy last couple weeks, we are excited to have a couple weeks off before our final GPAC competition to allow ample time for our athletes to rest and recover, and to give us time to make our final changes in our routines before taking it to the competition floor one last time! There is a lot of potential in both of these teams, and we look forward to maximizing that and finding ways to drive our difficulty up for our last competitions of our regular season!"
Dordt's next competition will be the GPAC Championships on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7 in Orange City.
