Coaching Philosophy:

  • In all aspects of life, I aim for my athletes to do simple things better and more consistently than anyone else we’ll compete against. When things are repeatable and reliable, we’re able to handle adversity and stressful situations by relying on the work put in to get us to that situation. In track and field, we have a unique chance for all athletes to show the work they’ve put in and get their own opportunities to perform – and even if the numbers don’t show up the way we want, we can at least have solace that we did the process well and to the best of our ability. The process of simple, daily habits being done consistently that leads to success in throwing mirrors the behaviors and processes to develop as a productive servant leader in the working world, home life, and spiritual development. Through athletics and competition within Dordt’s programs, we are given a unique platform to provide an example of how to integrate faith and athletics harmoniously, rather than combatively.
