Jori Bronner scored a pair of goals and both
Avril Baccam and
Karinna Tel netted one each in leading the Dordt University women's soccer team to a 4-1 win over Northwestern in a conference match played tonight in Orange City.
Dordt extended its win streak to five and improved to 5-2-1 in the GPAC, 9-4-1 overall. They moved up to third in the current GPAC standings with four matches left to play in the regular season. Northwestern slipped to 2-6-1 in the conference, 6-8-1 overall.
How It Happened...
- scoreless until the 12th minute, Karinna Tel received a pass in the Defenders offensive third, took a couple of touches and ripped a shot from 25-yards out past Red Raider goalkeeper Kaelin Alons for a 1-0 lead
- Dordt extended its lead to 2-0 during the 29th minute when Jori Bronner received a cross from Avril Baccam and touched it into the goal
- Northwestern cut the lead in half when Julie Dunlap scored an unassisted goal during the 53rd minute, making the score 2-1
- the Defenders picked up a huge insurance goal late, during the 78th minute, when Baccam scored her team-leading 17th goal off an assist from Katherine Kooiman
- Bronner finalized the scoring when she netted her second goal of the match off another assist by Baccam
