Game Time... Postseason play begins for the Dordt University women's soccer team as they play at Midland Wednesday night for a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) quarterfinal. Game time on Heedum Field in Fremont, Neb. is set for 7:30pm.Â
GPAC Tournament Schedule / Pairings... The Defenders earned the No.5 seed in the 8-team GPAC postseason tournament and are paired against No.4 seed Midland in the quarterfinals. The winner will play either No.1 seed Jamestown or No.8 Doane in a semifinal match on Saturday, Nov.5 at the site of the highest remaining seed.Â
The bottom half of the bracket has No.2 seed Briar Cliff and No.3 seed Hastings play host to No.7 Concordia and No.6 Morningside, respectively. Seminals on Saturday while the 2022 GPAC women's soccer championship match will be played on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the highest remaining seed.
At Stake... The winner of the GPAC tournament will advance to the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round as the league's second automatic representative. Jamestown, the No.1 seed, has already secured the GPAC's first bid into the NAIA Championship by winning the regular season title. If the Jimmies win the conference tournament as well, the GPAC runner-up (Briar Cliff) will earn the second bid into the NAIA Championship.Â
- The NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship - Opening Round will be played at different host sites around the country on Nov.17-19. The 10 winners from the opening round brackets advance to play at the championship final site - Orange Beach, Ala.
Tournament History...Dordt has qualified for seven consecutive conference tournaments and in 20 of 23 overall (since the GPAC began in 2000. They hold an 11-18 overall record in the postseason and have made it to the conference title match four times, going 1-3 in the championship match (winning the title in 2008). The Defenders have lost eight consecutive postseason games with their last win coming in 2010 against Doane in the quarterfinals. Dordt is 0-3 all-time against Midland in conference tournament:

Avril Baccam scored the only goal of the first half as the Defendes led 1-0 at the break. Midland, however, tied the match in the opening seconds of the second half and netted the game-winner during the 63rd minute in a goal scored by Bailey Locano.
