The Dordt Defender men's basketball team took the suspense out of its game with Viterbo early on Friday, November 11 and rolled to a 114-65 win.Â
Dordt got up 19-8 on a
Bryce Coppock three-point shot but Viterbo got the lead down to single digits with 11:41 left in the half on a basket to get the score to 20-12 and it was a 23-15 difference after the two teams traded baskets at the 11:15 mark. Back to back baskets by
Jackson Louscher and free throw by
Ben Fairclough gave Dordt a double digit lead that grew to 41-17 with a 13-0 run. The game was out of hand by halftime as Dordt went up 54-26.
13 players ended up scoring in the game and Dordt outscored Viterbo 60-39 in the second half on the way to the 114-65 win.
THE NUMBERS
- Dordt converted 43-63 field goals for 68 percent success. The Defenders were 18-29 from the three-point line for 62 percent.
- The VHawks converted 27-74 field goals for 37 percent and were limited to 5-22 three-point shooting for 23 percent.Â
- Dordt held a 42-27 rebounding edge.
- Lucas Lorenzen scored 22 points and had nine rebounds and made the first five three-point shots he attempted.
- Cade Bleeker scored 18 points and had three assists.
- Bryce Coppock scored 18 with five rebounds and two assists.
- Jacob Vis added 14 points and five rebounds with two assists and Luke Rankin had nine assists and four rebounds.
- Jackson Louscher came off the bench to score 10 points on 5-5 field goa shooting.
- Dordt tied a school record with 18 made three-point shots, tying the mark set on November 11, 2017 against Waldorf.
