Defenders Fall To Concordia in GPAC Semifinals

Dordt ends season with a 9-4-6 record

The Dordt University men's soccer team had its season come to an end with a 1-0 loss to (RV) Concordia in the semifinals of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) postseason tournament. 

The Defenders finished the 2022 season with a 9-4-6 record, their best since the 2014 season. 

Concordia netted the game's only goal late in the first half when Victor Meneses scored off a deflected clear by Dordt during the 34th minute. 

The Bulldogs defense made sure the one goal lead held up as they limited Dordt to just three shots on goal. The Defenders best scoring chance came when sophomore forward Ethan Knott missed just right on a shot from inside the box with 15 minutes left.

  • Nathan Wanninger (2) and Ryan Reyes (1) had the Defenders shots on frame
  • Brandon Hansen (5-3-2) made eight saves for Dordt
  • Concordia totaled nine shots on goal, led by reserve forward Daniel Campbell wth three
  • Gabriel Mendoza recorded three saves and stayed unbeaten (7-0-1) this season
The Defenders had one of their best seasons in recent memory, highlighted by a 12-match unbeaten streak that lasted well over a month.
