Walhof Commits To Defenders

(Monday, December 5; Sioux Center, Iowa) Makenna Walhof, a senior at Sioux Center High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and field program.

"We're extremely excited Makenna has chosen Dordt University; she'll be a great fit across all aspects of campus. From a track standpoint, she is a school record holder and placed at state, and after a strong senior season has a real chance to come in and provide support from the throws at both the conference and national levels to an already strong women's team," said Dordt University throws coach Justin Pastoor.

Walhof has personal bests of 131-6 in the discus and 32-0 in the shot put.  She is a two-time state qualifier in the discus and placed eighth and holds the school record in the discus.

"I chose Dordt because of the emphasis on academics and faith. They have the best facilities and faculty to ensure the best education possible. It is also the best place for me to grow and challenge my faith," said Walhof.

Makenna is the daughter of Eric and Stephanie Walhof of Sioux Center, Iowa.  She plans to study engineering at Dordt.
