(Friday, December 2; Sioux Center, Iowa) Jason Veenstra, a senior at Lynden Christian High School (Washington), has announced his intention to attend Dordt University and join the Defender cheer program.
"We are excited to be adding Jason to our cheer program next year," said Dordt cheer coach Mel Knobloch. "He comes from a strong high school cheer program and I am excited to see what he can bring to our co-ed stunting next year."
Veenstra has been used mostly as a main base, secondary base and had no failed/dropped stunts in the 2021-22 season.
"I am choosing to attend Dordt because of the close professor-student relationships, the Christian based education, and the amazing community in Sioux Center," said Veenstra.
Jason is the son of Laura Veenstra from Lynden, Washington. Jason plans to study education at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
