Morey To Run For Defenders

(Tuesday, December 20; Sioux Center, Iowa) Emma Morey, a senior at Spencer High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and cross country programs.

"I am excited to welcome Emma to our program.  She has been a part of an excellent team during her time at Spencer.  She has a passion for the sport of running and has the ability to match her passion.  I look forward to her impact on our program and the opportunity to work with her for the next four years," said Dordt head cross country coach and track and field assistant Nate Wolf

Morey is a three-time cross country state meet qualifier and has twice been a district champion in track and field. She's earned all-conference honors in track and field twice and three times in cross country and has personal bests of 2:35 in the 800 meters and 5:27 in the 1,500 meters. Her best on a 5,000 meter cross country course is 20:24.

"I chose to attend Dordt because of the Christian atmosphere and opportunities I have both in academics and athletics. The cross country team, advisors, and professors all gave a warm welcome to me on my first visit, and I have felt welcomed into their community ever since," said Morey.

Emma is the daughter of Jeff and Kerrie of Spencer, Iowa. She plans to study accounting at Dordt.
