Aplington Parkersburg Prep Commits To Dordt

(Thursday, December 22; Sioux Center, Iowa) Joseph Johnson, a senior at Aplington Parkersburg High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.  

Johnson is a 6-4, 220 pound defensive end and totaled 16 solo tackles in 2022 with 2.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss while claiming third team all-state honors.  In 2021 he had seven sacks and 13 tackles for loss and earned first team all-district honors both seasons. 

"I chose Dordt because it felt like a home away from home. A place where I feel like I can prosper athletically, academically and in my faith," said Johnson.   

Joseph is the son of Kris Johnson of Parkersburg, Iowa. He plans to study psychology at Dordt. 

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA). 

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
