(Thursday, December 22; Sioux Center, Iowa) Stephen Leinen, a senior at Harlan High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.
Leinen is a 6-0, 190 pound kicker and punter and averaged 37.4 yards per punt in 2022 and was 82-84 on point after tries as Harlan won a state title this season.
"I chose Dordt because I built a great relationship with all of the coaches. Also, I felt like the agriculture program that could advance my knowledge a lot in the field I want to do," said Leinen.
Stephen is the son of Darrel and Shayla Leinen of Harlan, Iowa. Leinen will study agriculture.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
