Wieringa Signs On With Defenders

(Thursday, December 22; Sioux Center, Iowa) Trevor Wieringa, a senior at Unity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender football program.  

Wieringa is 5-11, 195 pounds.  He played running back and linebacker during his career.  He claimed Class 2A All-District honors and Academic All-State honors while at Unity and he rushed for 1,288 yards on 309 carries and ran for 10 touchdowns.  He had 71 tackles on defense with 15.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions.   

"I chose Dordt because of the people there and the community that has been created. I appreciate the faith-based learning Dordt has to offer and the encouragement I received from all the coaches. I look forward to growing spiritually and academically and being a part of the Defender football program," said Wieringa.  

Trevor is the son of Daryl and Cara Wieringa of Sioux Center, Iowa. Wieringa will study business administration at Dordt. 

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
