Game Time...The Dordt University men's soccer team is set to play in its home opener this weekend when they host the 2022 Pizza Ranch Classic at the Defenders Soccer Complex. The Classic is co-hosted by Northwestern, who play the same teams on opposite night in Orange City. Dordt will play Trinity Christian (Ill.) under the lights on Friday evening, Sept. 2, for its home opener beginning at 6pm and will then return to the field the next day, Saturday, Sept. 3, for a late-afternoon contest against Ottawa (Kan.) at 4pm.Â

All-Time...Dordt is 6-4 all-time against Trinity Christian, last playing the Trolls in 2018 in a 2-1 Defenders win. Dordt has won three straight matches in the rivalry, coming away with 2-1 wins in 2015 and 2012 as well. Saturday's match will be the fourth all-time in the rivalry against Ottawa with the Defenders owning a 1-1-1 record. The teams will now have played in four of the last five years; they played to a 1-1 tie in 2021.
Last Time Out...Dordt lost to Metro State, a NCAA D-II foe from Denver, Colorado, 2-0 in a match played August 20 in Denver. The Defenders gave up both goals in the first half but played even with the Roadrunners in the second frame. Dordt totaled four shots on-goal compared to six by MSU.
