A highly anticipated battle between a pair of 5-2 teams tied for first place in the Great Plains Athletics Conference turned into a one-sided affair midway through the first half as the Dordt Defenders ran away from the Hastings Broncos by a 97-64 margin.
The Defenders started with a 9-0 run with three different players scoring for the Defenders. Hastings answered by outscoring Dordt 18-5 over the next four minutes and led 18-14 with 11:35 left in the half. A 
Jackson Louscher three-point play followed by a 
Bryce Coppock lay-up put Dordt up 19-18. Hastings regained the lead briefly with a two-point basket but 
Ben Fairclough converted a three-point shot and 
Jackson Louscher added a basket for a 24-20 lead that ignited a 9-0 run. Dordt's lead grew to 49-34 with a 
Cade Bleeker three-point shot and Coppock made a free throw for a 50-34 halftime lead.
Hastings got no closer than 14 the rest of the game and the second half was played at a plus-20 point difference for the final 16:14 of the game.
THE NUMBERS
	- Dordt made 38-59 field goals for 64 percent success and the Defenders made 12-21 three-point shots for 57 percent success.  The Defenders also made 9-11 free throws.
- Dordt had a 32-29 rebounding edge.
- Jacob Vis had 21 points and was 8-10 from the field and he made both of his three-point shots while grabbing four rebounds and blocking two shots with three assists.
- Lucas Lorenzen had 18 points and six rebounds and Bryce Coppock added 15 points and four rebounds.
- Luke Rankin had 10 points and eight assists and Jackson Louscher had 11 points and five rebounds.
- Cade Bleeker knocked down two three-point shots and had eight points.
- Reggie Thomas led Hastings with 20 points and five rebounds with three assists.
- Dordt is 14-2 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
- Hastings is 12-4 overall and 5-3 in the league.
