Defenders Add Essebaggers

(Thursday, January 5; Sioux Center, Iowa) Addison Essebaggers, a senior at Unity Christian High School (Michigan), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cross country and track programs.  

"I am pleased to welcome Addison to our distance program.  She is an excellent all-around athlete with a passion for running, and her best racing is yet in front of her. She is a wonderful fit for Dordt University and our distance program.  I look forward to working with her the next four years!" said Dordt cross country coach and assistant track coach Nate Wolf

Essebaggers has a personal best of 21:33 on a 5,000 meter cross country course and she runs the 3,200 meters in track and field.  

"I chose Dordt because of its incredibly welcoming and Christ-centered community and its' amazing education department. I am so excited to join the cross country and track teams to learn how to be a stronger Christian athlete and meet new people," said Essebaggers. 

Addison is the daughter of Chad and Julie Essebaggers of Jenison, Michigan. She plans to study education at Dordt University.  

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
