HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defender women's soccer team secured a 2-0 win over Morningside in GPAC play Saturday night in Sioux City, Iowa. 

Both of Dordt's scores came in the first half with Karinna Tel scoring in the 5^th minute and then she assisted on a goal by Joslyn Terpstra for a 2-0 lead in the 17^th minute.

Morningside had its chances with seven shots on goal in the first half by Lydia Zylstra was equal to the challenge and turned the threats away.

Terpstra put the contest out of reach with a goal off an assist again by Tel in the 85^th minute to make the final 3-0.

THE NUMBERS

• Dordt had nine shots and six on goal.
• Morningside had 28 shots and 11 on goal.
• Lydia Zylstra had eight saves while recording the shutout.
• Tel's goal was her 12^th of the season and her two assists bring her season total to six.
• Terpstra has eight goals this season.
• Morningside is 6-3-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the GPAC.
• Dordt is 7-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the league.
